Pre-Lims EQ Choice #1

Am I finite or infinite?

19 comments:

  1. In a sense, we are both. We are finite in a physical sense, and infinite depending on your beliefs. In a physical sense, we only have less than a hundred years to live. After that time we die; end. In the spiritual sense, after death comes heaven. That lasts forever. If we truly believe, then life never really ends. We are immortal as children of God. We just have to die first. Another way of looking at it is our legacy and memories. Some people’s memory may never die. They are infinite because they never really end; they keep going. Some have no legacies or anything that they leave behind. They are finite and end after they are dead and forgotten.

  2. Humans are both finite and infinite. How? Our bodies are finite; they will eventually perish and decay. Christians can choose to have Jesus Christ as our savior granting us eternal life and thus making us infinite. However, only the people who have chosen Jesus as their savior will become infinite. There are other ways that one can become infinite. People who are famous or leave a legacy behind will for the most part always be remembered, they are infinite. They may not be living today, but they are known for their accomplishments and what they achieved. They were able to be finite and infinite. Everyone is finite, yet we all have the chance to become infinite. People differ in their ways to become infinite.

  3. I as in any human would be finite and infinite. Finite is limited and infinite is having no boundaries. Humans are finite because we have limits. We are restricted to only do so much like we cannot have superpowers. We are the most finite when it comes to God because we only have faith he exists and we cannot understand the thought of him and his powers. Also, if you think about world records; the fastest runner can run the mile at 3:43. However, we are limited to that time because nobody can run a mile in 0 seconds. We are infinite because we can only succeed as far as we will push ourselves. We can be as smart or as fun or as talented as we choose to be. We have the ability to change ourselves and can make a difference. Most humans are free, free to speak, sing, and basically do whatever we want. So humans are finite and infinite.

  5. People’s answers on whether they are finite or infinite depend on their beliefs. Some people just belief that everyone is no more after their life is over, so everyone is finite. Others belief everyone goes to heaven, therefore they are infinite. I believe I am infinite, because I am going to heaven after I die, therefore I will live forever with my God, I am infinite. This happen thanks to Jesus, that died for our sins, therefore letting us live forever in heaven. But just because someone might not go to heaven, because they didn’t accept God into their lives or lived a life that pleased God, doesn’t mean they are finite. In reality, everyone is infinite, its just that everyone isn’t going to end up in the same place. Some people will live forever in Heaven, others in Hell. Therefore, we are all infinite.

  6. Humans are finite in the physical world but it depends on the person’s spiritual world that would consider him/her infinity. Humans are mortal; we cannot live forever and forever in our physical bodies, it’s not possible. We are born into this world and live until we die. Once we die that’s it for our physical body. They bury us in the dirt and we rot, but if we believe in Jesus and God during our physical world then that would guarantee us infinity in our spiritual world.
If a person wants to have infinity then he/she has to accept God into their life and believe in what Jesus did for them. When a believer dies, he/she will be accepted into Heaven and have everlasting life. If they don’t believe then they will go to hell, they’ll still have infinity but it won’t be as great as the Heaven infinity. The physical world cannot last forever but believing in God will guarantee us infinity in Heaven. Jesus is the way to eternal life, to our spiritual infinity.

  7. I believe that the answer is both. Finite means having limits or bounds. Our human bodies are finite as we grow old and die. Also we our knowledge of the world around us is limited unlike God’s understanding. We are bound to time and we are often faced with an uncertain future. We often have to wait on God to answer our prayers and we become inpatient, but we have to realize that God can see everything and works beyond our comprehension. On the other hand, our spirits are also infinite. Infinite means forever or eternity. When we die our spirit will go to either heaven or hell. Wherever we go it will be for eternity.

  8. Humans are both finite and infinite. If you look at it with a physical and spiritual aspect, you can see that we are both. Humans can’t live this physical life forever. We are all finite in that our physical lives will end sooner or later. We start at birth on this earth and end with death. Humans are also infinite with a spiritual life. It’s a matter of our spirituality and faith in what’s going to happen after our finite life has come to end. If we believe in salvation, then our spiritual lives will be infinite. We will be alive in Christ and living with Him in our infinite lives. If we believe in that, then our infinite lives will be perfect in heaven. It’s funny how you can relate math concepts to spirituality and life!

  9. Most people would say that people are both infinite and finite but I would have to disagree. I would say people are ultimately infinite. Our souls are every lasting, no matter where we go after death. Although we eventually physically die, our early bodies are little more than a shell. Before we go into heaven, we shed that shell since it is no longer necessary. Our physical death is nothing more than another step towards heaven and ultimately meeting our God. No matter what you believe in when it comes to religion, everyone one this earth will find themselves, after the day of judgment, in one of two places. Most people now days don’t realize that the choices and decisions they are making today here on earth are effect where they will be for the rest of time. This makes me worry about certain people in my life. But, that is beside the point. The point is, in the spiritual form humans are infinite.

  10. In the physical world we are all finite. We live our lives until the time comes for us to die and are sent to the ground. People are dead longer than they are alive, and we tend to forget with each passing year. Few people live to carry on a legacy even after their death. Even then they aren’t around to live out their legacy, they are dead. But their physical body is still gone. It’s decaying matter. If we believe in Jesus as our savoir we have everlasting life, John 3:16 states “For God so loved the world that he gave his only son that who so ever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” When we accept Jesus in our hearts we are able to have an infinite spiritual life. Only then are we infinite because we have everlasting life. This everlasting life can only be obtained by accepting Jesus in your heart. Physically we are finite, but when we accept Jesus our lives become infinite.

  11. Going back to the second question when I mentioned god and eternal life; a strong believing Christian will believe that with god in a person’s life that internal life is possible. A religious individual would believe that they wouldn’t, so much, have to worry about a “limit’ to their eternal life. Either way there is no limit to life, with god/religion or not, “the best thing in life is life” and should not be taken for granted. So depending on different opinions from different individuals, yea a person can be infinite with life and such. Rather it being their religious views to help guide them depends on what and how an individual really view themselves. Personally, I don’t if am infinite or not…still trying to find that peace point of my life.

  12. The definition of "finite" is not infinite, not zero, and measurable. The definition of "infinite" is exceedingly great, unlimited, and immeasurable. I think that I am finite because I am a human and my time on earth will end sometime. I believe that there is only one being that is infinite, and that is God. He is infinite because he is the beginning and the end of everything known and he goes on forever. I am not exceedingly great and unlimited because of my sinful ways, I am finite. I do believe that I can become infinite through my faith in God and Jesus Christ, but my life on earth now is finite.

  13. From my Christian perspective, our bodies here on earth are definitely not infinite. We will grow old, and when we die, they will decay and become really gross. So our flesh and bones are finite. I believe that believers in Jesus Christ are saved through Him, and we will have everlasting life. Our spirits will go to Heaven and live there forever and ever with Christ. So I think that I am more infinite than I am finite. Mainly because my earthly life is going to be much smaller than my life in Heaven. I have accepted Jesus and I have given my spirit to the Lord, I will live forever. I am infinite.

  14. Am I finite or infinate? I am infinate in the eyes of God. As a human I am finite however. When I die, my temporary life is over but I go to heaven. In heaven my life is infinate. God says that whoever beleives in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Eternal life is like infinate. That is why we need to focus on our current life. We need to put our treasures in heaven. In the end we are infinate in God's world.

  15. We are finite and infinite. I see our bodies as something that is finite, and I see that our life after death is infinite. I see our bodies as just something that we have like an eggshell, and inside is our true heart. I believe that when God calls us home our eggs shell comes off and our true self is brought before God. I believe that God loves each and every one of us. I see our lives as something that God knows and understands. We all have a soul that is infinite whether we want to believe it or not, but I definitely see God as something that will make an impact on people whether they know it or not. Everyone has a choice whether they want to be infinite in heaven or infinite in hell. We all need to realize this and our bodies that are finite will seem to not matter as much anymore. I love how God made us, with something to look forward to after life.

  16. I think that everyone on the planet earth should ask this question. The answer for me personally would be both. I am finite because I know I am going to die someday and decay underground somewhere. I am infinite because I have chosen Jesus and hope that I will one day be reunited with him for all eternity. People can be one or the other depending on their beliefs and what lives they have chosen to lead. Everyone has a chance to redeem themselves and become infinite however. The first step to achieve this is to turn to God and build a relationship with him. People have different ways of becoming infinite though, it all depends on faith and culture. Christian people believe that you have to become a part of God’s children while other people around the world may think differently. To make this clear, I am coming from a Christian perspective and worldview. All people are finite however because there is an end coming but it all depends on what you believe in order to become infinite unless you are Michael Jackson in which case you will live forever which would make you infinite still.

  17. Physically we are all finite, nothing more nothing less. We have no power for authority to change it. We are born, we live, we die. Thats the human cycle. Thats what most of us believe. There is no purpose in life but just to give it one shot and hope you have a good long life. Well that maybe true for most people but as for me I know of something greater in this world. I am not only phsyically finite but i am also spiritually infinite. It is by my faith that I have a purpose in this world. That I have meaning and a reason to live. It didnt happen by chance instead it was all planned by God. You see, it is through him that I can live life after death. I can continue to grow even when my body is deep. Its said that I can concider myself to be finite and infinite when others can't. But that is my job, I am to go out into the world and spread the word of God. Thats when they can consider to be both finite and infinite. It is only by God and serrendering your life to him that this is possible.

  18. it really depends as what you believe in. we are finite in our physical bodies. in our spiritual bodies were are finite. every religion has some sort of "afterlife". for Christians we know where each saved soul is going and where the ones are as well. either way, the spirtual body is infinite. we are finite because of our human bodies. we all know we are going to die at some point. God made us both ways. so yes, i think we're both.

  19. I would say that we can both be finite and infinite. Finite means to have a limit, to have an end and I think that our end is our death. Infinite means to have no limit or no end. If we listen to the word of god then we will inherent eternal life in heaven. Even if we don’t believe in god or deny that there is a god and believe in something else then we will still have internal life in either heaven or hell. Having a finite to our life symbolizes the end of our life. Finite can also mean having a limit to things in our life. Sometimes we need a break so we need to limit what we do everyday. So in other words I am both finite and infinite because I have no limit to eternal life with God and I have a finite life in the physical world. I would say that infinite is better than being finite.
