REMINDER:

It would be wise to read the expectations for your EQ's (10 sentences, grammar, etc)!

Second semester Final EQ – contemplating other’s thoughts

Take some time to look over all of the EQ’s from this semester. Take some time to read the comments from your fellow students. For your last EQ you are to respond/remark/react/etc. to someone else’s comment on an EQ from this semester (Ch 7, Ch 9, Ch 13, Prelims). Which comment made you think the most? Do like what someone said? Did someone really ruffle your feathers with what they said? Be sure to either copy and paste the comment you are discussing in your post or at least use the Student ID and EQ number (i.e. I really disagreed with the comment left by 999-CS on the Ch 9 EQ #2). As usual meet all of my expectations for EQ to receive full credit.

I agree with the statement that humans interact with God like a tangent line. God is the line that goes to infinity because he never had a beginning or an end. The tangent line is us. We hit the infinite line once. This demonstrates humans’ short life span when compared to God and his immortality. We are only one point in existence of God. I also believe that there needs to be more to this equation. Even though we die we still get to live with God for eternity. I guess that’s where the part about tangent lines going on infinitely comes to play. I still believe there is more that needs to be added to the equation to resemble God’s relationship with us, tangent lines is very close to the mark.

The reason for me to choose this comment out of the many that laid before me was only because the person who wrote it decided to take the alternative route and bravely decided to challenge the quedtion by giving a different response. As I read down the column all I saw was the same response one right after thee other. We all know that reading the same thing over and over again can quickly get boring. Thats how it felt until I came across this comment and the first thing it states was their agreement to the statement. As I read I was neither bord nor uninterested. Instead, I opened my mind to what it was that they were trying to state. After a couple repeats I can't deny it but I have to agree with them. The comment may have been short but the most important thing is that they made their statement clear. I like how they decided to expand their horizon & look at things from a different point of view rather than follow what everyone was doin & putting down the same thing. Being different is unique and this is an example of it.

I really enjoyed reading what this person had said about dealing with chance and how you cope with it. The universe is unique and unpredictable; there is no way to control it. Sometimes we get the good end of the stick and other times we get the bad. Most of the time we hope to receive the good end and most of the time, we don’t. Life is about chance and whether or not you take it and there are risks for each time you do as well as when you don’t. I like the way the person said, the only way to deal with chance is to let what happens, happen. I also liked the way this person stated how people deal with chance in other ways such as crying or whining about it. I know most of the time I tend to whine or cry around about it and believe that’s what most people tend to do. I agree with this person’s argument in that people need to find a way to cope with chance as both good and bad. Not only that, but deal with it in a healthy way. Not all people have this kind of discipline to actually deal in a healthy way, for example, me. Overall I really like the way this person worded how to cope with chance because in the end , you deal or don’t, life itself is a chance.

  3. I don’t quite agree with what student #1316 said in the Mandatory EQ about the number i. The whole concept that angels can choose to be ether good is bad is very misplaced. They only had that choice once and they forfeited it when some angles joined Satins side against God. Following that battle God took the angles free will away. To me it would be more accurate to say that i is like a human more then an angel. Since angles have no free will only humans now have the ability to choose whether to be good or bad. Humans can also change just like the number i going from negative to positive and back. I still agree with #1316 that metaphorically speaking i is like an angel in that it helps us with equations kind of like angles helped people in the Old and New Testament in the Bible. I also agree that realistically the number i shouldn’t be compared to angles. Angles are beings quite out of our understanding and they serve God, sort of like i serves us in figuring out difficult equations.

I do think that the existence of these numbers proves that God is real. Both of these numbers are never ending and do not repeat. There is no possible way these numbers could have occurred naturally. God put these numbers within creation as way to show humans that he really is there. These two numbers represent God in many ways. First, they are never ending just like God. God has always been around and his creation, mercy, and love for us is endless. In order to “discover” these numbers they had to be created and placed there, God put the numbers to leave hints for us to find out the truth about Him. These numbers have always been and will always be around because they represent and show his presence in all creation. While others may think that these numbers just happened I believe that they proved the existence of Him.

I agree with what the student 1251 said about God existing through these numbers. The student says that pi and e did not occur on it’s own but God created them in some way to help us humans understand why they are existent. Understanding that God is real through math has been helpful because it makes me think things through and know that numbers like these were created by God and not by man. Knowing that God has created so many numbers for us to learn about is beyond this world because it amazes me to see how much thought God has put in Math so that we could learn about his works. Math is some what a hard subject to learn because there are so many steps to learning, but this shows me personally that God is existent. It also shows that God had been thinking of ways to amaze us through math even if it is just with numbers. With everything this student said about God existing through these numbers I totally agree because God is existent and put those numbers in math for a reason.

  5. I like what student # 1251 had to say about humans being finite or infinite. I agree with mostly everything they had to say. I think that they are very right when they say that our bodies someday will eventually perish and decay. While we live in our human form bodies on earth our bodies will decay after we die. However later we become infinite if you have made the personal choice of asking Jesus Christ into your heart and allowing him to be your savior. I like how they said there are other ways to become infinite. It is true that many famous people who have already passed away are still yet remembered to this day. I think that that type of infinity is quite different from the infinity Christians will get when they enter the Kingdom of Heaven. It is different because Christians will be living forever having eternal life with Christ, while famous people who left their legacies behind only left us with their memories. So I agree with what # 1251 said I just think that they should have included and been more descriptive on why they are different from each other.

  6. Final Chapter EQ

I decided to respond to Chapter Seven choice #3, which instructs to respond to the statement: “Jesus has logarithmic properties.” There were very convincing comments responding to the statement, in most of the responses the individual would refer to logarithmic property as Jesus or god, life and heavenly facts. Most of the comments were all agreeing with the statement, that Jesus does have logarithmic property of some sort. There was only one comment that caught my attention more so then all the other comments. This comment actually disagreed with the statement. I actually would agree with this individuals argument, he says that human beings, god creation, are raised to the power of god to be just like him; or the way I thought of it in my own mind, raised to the ‘power’ of a higher source. Also makes sense when he states that god was once in our place, taking the form of a human being, and now, as his creation, we’re suppose to reflect his image.

“No, God doesnt have any logarithmic properties. God has no certain power that he's raised to. Just like in the Bible it says He has no beginning and no end. God maybe puts poeple with logarithmic standards. we have certain standards to live up to. We are raised to the 'power' of God to be just like him. He is our creator so we're raised to the power of ten to look as in his image. using the 'log roll' God was once in our place and we are supposed to reflect his image. Now we have to try 'ten times' as hard to reflect that. So, God doesnt have any logarithmic properties.”

  7. I really liked what 1209 had to say about the Chapter 7 E.Q. Choice #1. I, like 1209 believe that the existence of π and e help to prove the existence of God. I feel like 1209 answered the E.Q. in a very humbled way. I like how they flat out said I have no clue how these numbers work, but I’m happy to have them. I also like how throughout their response they kept the idea that these numbers as well as mathematics in general are so complex that there is no way humans could come up with it. They did a good job throughout their response coming back to the idea that mathematics and those numbers must have came from God. Reading the other comments to this E.Q. I saw that the responses were all quite the same, everyone felt that these numbers did prove God’s existence. 1209 had the same response, but it stuck out more to me. The way 1209 responded just felt real, like they were giving their true feelings, not just a cliché answer. I especially enjoyed the end, saying that we may hate mathematics, and these numbers, but God gave them to us to benefit us. I agree with, and I really enjoyed and liked what 1209 had to say about God and π and e.

  8. In Pre-lims choice 1 2051 Said
Am I finite or infinate? I am infinate in the eyes of God. As a human I am finite however. When I die, my temporary life is over but I go to heaven. In heaven my life is infinate. God says that whoever beleives in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Eternal life is like infinate. That is why we need to focus on our current life. We need to put our treasures in heaven. In the end we are infinate in God's world.

I agree with the message that 2051 shares here. This is how I feel towards the question. Although 2051 has trouble with the word “infinite” they relay an important message. Our bodies are nothing more than a shell. In the end, all that matters is where your heart lies. Inevitably, we will all die and our earthly bodies will be nothing more than dust. At that point, our soul is all that matters. Our soul is infinite. For the rest of time, our soul will reside in one of two places. I agree that it is important we focus on how we live this life so that we may make it to heaven in the next life. I agree with the closing statement that ultimately we are infinite in God’s world.

I agree and disagree on what 1251 said.
What I disagree with is when they mentioned that “People who are famous or leave a legacy behind will for the most part always be remembered, they are infinite.” Yes they will leave a legacy but not for an eternity. Memories may live on but soon die and decay like a dead person’s body. What ever happens on this earth will soon be gone and everything will be silence. I do agree that when a person takes in Jesus to be their Lord and Savior they will become infinite, but there is another way to become infinite as well. Hell is a place for those who did not except Jesus into their hearts. Hell is a terrible place and will remain for an eternity.

Probability is a mathematical solid based on unpredictability. When I make decisions, it isn't always a question of probability or what I will most likely do. Sometimes I do use it by seeing what the most likely outcome is and making a decision based on that. I see the logical choice and go with it. In life a person can always associate chance with everyday life. I believe however that few things happen by chance. When they do I always use probability to find the best way. Probability can be calculated but in the end a lot has to do with sheer dumb luck. When it comes to that it’s hard to say if anything is certain. The best decision however is to use probability.

The statement made by 2051 is rather true in my opinion. Many of the choices that we make are not based on mathematical data, but social/business outcomes. Social interaction is beyond researchable for even the single entirety of one person. They might like an idea or suggestion because it’s a good idea, or they are fond of you, or if they’re just happy at that particular moment. On the other hand, that person also might totally cast down the exact same idea if they look at it from another angle, or are having a low-point in their life, or just outright hate you. In business, it is just based on logic and experience to predict the outcome and hope for the best, if things go awry, tough luck. In any situation you can use probability to get what you want, but by the time most of us are done the outcomes would have changed than if we just went with our gut. So yes life revolves around math, but sometimes math needs to be ignored for the best probable outcome.

  11. I agree with the comment left by 337 in Pre-Lims EQ Choice #2. The writer took human life in the physical sense and stated that the equation is impossible because humans are not immortal. There is no possible way for human life and infinite time to hint as the human life will eventually die. Also I thought that 337 had a good point that f(x) would have to be different for each individual human because life is not the same for each person. For example the life of a human that is taking drugs would be considerably different than a health nut. Also there are uncertainties such as freak accidents and diseases. I really like the idea that, “God didn’t create us so we could be put into a series of numbers to equal one thing.” We are not robots and this is what makes us so unique. God gave us a choice on how we want to spend our lives, whether or not it affects our time on earth. I also agree that once we die our spirit would coincide with the equation as we would life forever.

  12. 1209’s thoughts on Prelim EQ Choice #3…
I disagree. A tangent line is a line that only touches the function at one point. If we are a tangent line and God is the function, than if that were true, we only touch once. I don’t believe that’s true. God is always working in our lives no matter what. Sure it may be that we maybe only try and touch God once in our lives. He is always working in us. We “touch” much more than just once in the grand scheme of things. We need to interact with God a lot more than once. That’s quite a life lesson….

I agree with this opinion. I believe that God plays a large role in our lives. We interact with him more than once. Humans do not interact with God like a tangent line. If we did then why would God play any part in our lives? God does have a part in our lives and saying that humans interact with him like a tangent line goes against this. If we interacted with God like a tangent line we would not be able to form a relationship with Him. As Christians we live for God, if we only interact with him once, what is the point of living? God is crucial in the life of every Christian. 1209 hit the nail right on the head, Humans interact with God more than once and we need Him.

  13. I am in agreement with this comment on; Humans interact with God like a tangent line from 1567's comment from Prelim EQ Choice #3. This post caught my eye because, 1567 comes straight out with what they believe. I like how 1567 used the word believe instead of pushing their comment, 1567 is just sharing. This led me onto actually reading their comment. And I agreed with everything 1567 said. I read quite a lot of these EQs and I picked to respond to this particular one because, it made me think about being in contact with God for a moment in your life and it being COMPLETLY amazing. At first, I disagreed with this statement, but 1567’s post made me think about Gods relationship with everyone on earth. After reading I thought for a while and come up with another option similar to 1567’s, about how God interacts with humans like a tangent line. The spot that the tangent line hits starts your life as a Christian and that dot is from our life on earth. But when we accept Him, He will never leave us, so in a way God picks us up from where we re in life and were with him forever, just like how the tangent line goes on forever. I really did enjoy reading 1567’s comment. It REALLY did make me think.

  14. 1567's thoughts for Pre Lims EQ Choice #3;
I believe that humans do interact with God like a tangent line. Everyone in life has those moments where they feel super close to God. As Christians in life we are always close to God, but we have times where we can feel Him in an overpowering way. A tangent line is a line that touches a function in one particular point. As Christians we have many tangent line moments. Moments where we are going about in life and suddenly come into contact, in an extremely close way to God. God is so amazing and powerful that we do not need to crash right through Him to feel Him in our lives. Like a tangent line it only takes one small point of contact to feel God’s amazing power. Throughout life I believe these interactions can happen multiple times, multiple tangent line interactions with God. So, yes, humans do interact with God like tangent lines.

When I answered this questioned in my EQ, I disagreed with it completely. Looking at it from my point, I said that you don’t interact with God just once in your life. I felt like I was right and it looked like everybody else who answered it had the same opinion. I didn’t see 1567’s comment. After reading it, I can see their point as they agreed with the statement. They looked at it as a relationship with God rather than our interaction with them. It stood out to me because it was the only one in that seemed so sure of their answer. Now, it made me rethink my answer to my response. I like their reason of not needing to crash into God to interact with Him. Just one small point is all it takes to have an interaction with God and see His power work through our lives. That is so true and I agree with this person looking at it from their view. Good job 1567! :)

  15. I like what the comment left by 78-C-S on the Prelims EQ choice #1. I think that this is a great way to look at this question. I do not necessarily agree with what they have to say though. They talk about how all humans are finite, because we all die. But then they said it depends on the person’s spiritual world whether or not they are infinite. This suggests that if a person believes in Jesus and goes to heaven their life would be infinite, but if they went to hell their life would not be infinite. They later go on to say either way, the person’s life is infinite. They either go on to live forever in heaven, or they live forever in hell. They sort of contradict themselves. I think that either way, our life will still be infinite. A person does not necessarily have to accept Jesus to live forever, it would just, in my opinion, be a better place to go.

Even though it is a very short response, I agree with it. 'i' and angels can be good or bad. It just depends if we can tell the difference between good and bad angels or in that case, good and bad 'i's. A fallen angel can cause trouble in our life just as a tough 'i' problem can cause a lot of frustration. If you do not recognize how to solve both angels and 'i's you can cause a lot of trouble in your life or in your math problem. I's can be tough like under a cubed root. This to me represents a fallen angel. The more simplier i can be recognized, such as 'i' squared which equals -1. It is just all based on knowledge. The Lord gives a reason for both existing.

  17. On Chapter.9 choice 3 1920 wrote about whether it was a greater risk to follow God or to not follow God all together. In general I agree with 1920's opinion in that it would be an overall better choice to follow God in any situation. But in 1920's response, he or she says that if one does not follow God in his or her life, and God ends up not existing, that that person will be" fine". When I saw this statement it made me think...Will this person really be "fine"? And I think NO. If I was to live my life without believing in God, I would find my life useless and unworthy. My entire life, I was raised believing in God, and praising his name. If it turns out that I do live my entire life believing in God, and in the end their turns out to be no such thing, I will actually be quite heart broken. But at least I can say that I lived a morally righteous life, and that I believed in something greater than myself. And at that point I would truly be sorry for the people who did not believe in anything. Because honestly I would rather believe in something good and holy, rather than live a life of no God and no morals.

  18. I agree with 1209's comment in pre-lims EQ #1. He said that we are both finite and infinite. That person said that we are finite in flesh, but infinite in God. I agree because those things are seperate from each other, especially in the definition of finite and infinate. They also said that if we go to heaven, our finite life will be over. I agree and add that we will have parts of the finite life in our eternity life in heaven. Thee final piont this person makes is about how our memory is infinite. This is one part that I think will be both finite and infinite in a sense. I agree with this because our minds are so powerful. God intended for us to keep them longer than just the time on earth.

People’s answers on whether they are finite or infinite depend on their beliefs. Some people just belief that everyone is no more after their life is over, so everyone is finite. Others belief everyone goes to heaven, therefore they are infinite. I believe I am infinite, because I am going to heaven after I die, therefore I will live forever with my God, I am infinite. This happen thanks to Jesus, that died for our sins, therefore letting us live forever in heaven. But just because someone might not go to heaven, because they didn’t accept God into their lives or lived a life that pleased God, doesn’t mean they are finite. In reality, everyone is infinite, its just that everyone isn’t going to end up in the same place. Some people will live forever in Heaven, others in Hell. Therefore, we are all infinite.

I agree with the above comment for the most part however not the last part. I believe God and his Son would help us to stay out of hell and come to them instead of Satan. WE as people don't know where we are going to go after death; we can choose to believe in the Christian god and feel secured were going to heaven after death but we really don't know for sure if that is true. When it comes to finite and infinity, all materialistic things don't exist forever and certainly not ourselves. However I do believe all things are finite including ourselves but with the faith in Christ and his Father, we are infinite thru him.

Jesus can have logarithmic properties. Jesus is God, and God is Jesus. Life is the log bases. We are the x’s and Jesus is the y’s. Life can be written in many different properties. God is always the log base for a new property. Without God we have no property. Life(Us)+Life(Jesus) = Life(Us*Jesus), knowing Jesus and multiplying Jesus by us is to be inseparable to God. Whereas, Life(Us)-Life(Jesus) =Life(Us/Jesus), where we have no clue who Jesus is and that we will never know him. Another property of life is that Life(Us^Knowing Jesus)=Knowing Jesus*Life*Us, we will never be sure who God is, but we all want to know whether there is a God or not. As a Christian, Life with Jesus can be hard, but having without Jesus gives no hope. “

I agree with what 1128 has to say about Jesus having logarithmic properties. 1128 stated the equations and also provided God and Jesus inside the equation, which I thought was cool. 1128 also proved that without one or the other (as in logarithms) the equation doesn’t work. I also like this comment because the author used equations to help me better understand the relationship between Jesus and logarithms. I think this student did an excellent job providing me with a decent answer to the questions “does Jesus have logarithmic properties”. I also liked how 1128 provided the answer from a human world view. Without Jesus we won’t have eternal life, we won’t know God. The same can be said in logs, without x (Jesus) or y (God) we won’t be able to solve the equation of life. The author did a great job of showing how Jesus has logarithmic properties.

  21. I agree with 2051 in the chapter 9 choice #2 EQ because I like how he or she looked at probability and how they used it in life. I like what they said about they really don’t believe in chance and I believe people are faced with decisions for a reason and we can use probability to make the right one. I agree with that and think probability is a reasonable skill to have and God gave it to us to face the decisions he faced us with. I do not agree with though the way he or she made it sound like probability is the only way to make right decision in certain cases I believe sometimes the best decisions are when you don’t think about them and go with a “gut feeling.” I do like what 2051 said though and how chance doesn’t really exists and probability is a great way to make the right decisions.

  22. I sort of agree and see the point that 1920 wrote about to chapter 9 choice 3. What they were describing was similar to a paradox which they argued that it was better to follow Christ than to not. Based on what you gain and lose. 1920 said it is better to follow God because you don’t really lose anything. If we were to not follow god we risk losing even more than if we believed, though the paradox doesn’t take into account the circumstances surrounding the question. What we are learning to doctrine is the possibility of other religions leading to God. Not just Christianity. I don’t doubt that God could be in other religions so it would be difficult to use the paradox to say that Christianity is the way and you should convert now. The paradox is good to show people how God could be a good choice but they won’t just start following him just because of the paradox. It is reliable to show a person why it is good to follow God but shouldn’t be the only reason that that person decided to follow God. They should want to follow Christ because of his Word and everything he is besides using their faith as a fall back if the world ends the way the bible said it would. But all in all there is no harm in believing in God but not so good for believing for the wrong reason.

I agree with what 1032 said. God does know all. He created everything in our universe and beyond. He knows what we are thinking and what will happen 50 years from now, because he planned it all. God even knows all the numbers of pi and e. God created those two things to be used in life and in math. I believe that pi and e end at some point but we don't know where, only God does. God works in mysterious way so maybe there is a reason why we don't know all the numbers of pi and e. One thing is for sure though and that is God knows all the numbers. We just have to trust God.

  24. I disagree with the comment left by 1041 for Pre-Lims EQ Choice #2. If f(x) is human life and x is time, what is the limit of f(x), as x approaches infinity? They say that the linit equation does not exist and that if it did exist, the limit would equal God. I disagree with the second theory of the of the limit equal to God because is doesn't make sense. He does go on forever and has no end but he is not human. Only one person could make this statement true, Jesus. Jesus is the right answer because he was both human and God. He rules with God forever and his existence on earth as a human fits. Therefore, If f(x) is human life and x is time, the limit of f(x), as x approaches infinty, would equal Jesus Christ.

Unlike most of these responses, I am neither agreeing or disagreeing. The response started with the statement, "People's answers depend on whether they are infinite or finite depends on their beliefs." This start threw me off. I assumed that this person believed that truth was relative and that if a person didn't believe, they were finite. I kept reading and saw that wasn't the case and eventually they came to the conclusion that everyone is infinite. It made me re-think. Everyones soul lasts forever, but if heaven is eternal life, is hell eternal death? If it is, does that mean that life end in hell. Maybe everyone isn't infinite. Maybe spiritually, infinity is a gift that God can grant us. Now I believe that infinity is salvation. It's our choice to accept it or not. No one is infinite without God.

I agree with the statement that humans interact with God like a tangent line. God is the line that goes to infinity because he never had a beginning or an end. The tangent line is us. We hit the infinite line once. This demonstrates humans’ short life span when compared to God and his immortality. We are only one point in existence of God. Well, I chose this comment because it made me think about how I can compare my relationship with God with a tangent line. I did not answer this question so I haven’t interacted with it yet. I kind off understand on how this person is trying to compare these two subjects(tangent lines, humans relationship with God) but I only agree with one thing. I agree with God being a function because he does have no beginning or end. I don’t agree with almost everything else. Both the tangent line and the function have no beginning or end. Only God has no beginning or end so we can’t really put ourselves into the graph. And I really disagree with us and God only being together in only one point in existence. A personal relationship with God consists of us spending time with Him by praying, praising and reading the bible. We do these things, supposedly, almost everyday, so we interact with God everyday. And in the end of this graph, both lines are always together(in heaven)for eternity. So this answer to the question made me ruffle my feathers because I basically disagreed with most of the answer and it made me think a lot about this subject.

Essential questions are due within 1 week of taking the chapter test. They should be at a minimum of a 10 sentence, 1 paragraph response, but may be longer. Each chapter’s essential questions will assemble your “Electronic EQ” project for each semester and will be worth a project grade at the end of the semester.
