Ch 4 EQ Choice #1

How can your understanding of transforming trigonometric expressions help you seek to transform culture as “salt and light” in your community and world?

6 comments:

  1. Transforming trigonometric expressions helps us transform culture as salt and light because they are similar if you look at them. An expression has to include cosine, sine, and a value for x. Culture being the value for x also salt and light being cosine and sine. If we mess around with a trigonometric equation, then we can prove, solve, or simplify the equation. If we mess around with the bible, then we can prove theories, solve problems, or simplify instructions. We can transform culture to salt and light by mixing cultural beliefs with the bible. Most cultures believe in something, it may be a god, idea, or nothing. We can be salt and light by obeying God’s word and sharing it with others. We should try to make ourselves equal to God. An equation has to equal something and there might be more than one way to get there. There are simple/ easy ways and hard/longer ways. We get the choice. It is the same way with being salt and light because we are equal to God and we get the choice to choose the easy or hard path to get equal with God. We have the final choice to be the only salt and light in the dark world.

  2. Transforming anything from trigonometric expessions, salt and light all connects in a way. Transforming trigonometric equations can be complex because it deals with numbers, sine, cosine and x but the results can teach you a lesson. Solving a trigonometric euqation takes time, study and focus. To figure out the problem you can either take a hard/long or easy/short path to do so. But what ever path you take you are left with a answer which is the valure of X. In order to get the value of x you have had to messed around with the equation and did all kinds of alterations. I say that is how life is. We all mess around and change things to make our lives a little bit better. but in the end we are either left with being happy or disappionted. Life is like a trigonometric equation and it is up to us on how we solve the problem inorder to find the value of life.

  3. Matthew 5:13-16 says this, 13"you are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. 14"you are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."

In trigonometric expressions there are two sides of the equation. There is the more complex side and the "not-so-complex" side. When transforming the expression, you transform the more complex side to become the "not-so-complex" side. By understanding this, you have a general outline on how to transform a real-life problem and make it simple or whatever you want it to become. So, you have a complex world or community and you want to transform it to a "salt and light" world or community. By taking everything step by step you are able to prove a complex world or community equals a "salt and light" world or community.

  4. In a trigonometric equation you have sine and cosine, which operate with the x. Salt and light coherce, exactly like sine and cosine. A trigonometric equation is like a problem in which it can be applied to life. Sine would be the salt and cosine would be the light. If you have such an equation you really can change culture in a community. It really depends on the sine and cosing however; x will give you your outcome depending on sine and cosine. So if we want a certain outcome then we can find a sine and cosine to perform the new better change.

  5. Salt of the earth eventually losses it’s saltiness. And isn’t good for anything. But the light of the world is shown to everyone and is known. God tells us to do acts of kindness so that we don’t get the recognition ourselves but we give that glory to God. We must do his will through us. So we can’t really say I did this act of kindness but God help me fulfill his act of kindness to someone. People who say that are selfish I think but if they give the glory to God than they are truly doing good deeds. Salt of the Earth could be like doing good deeds but then eventually stopping for a reason. We must never stop doing acts of kindness to our community. We must continue and never let the salt lose its saltiness in society no matter how we think people don’t appreciate or care for what we try to do. The light of the world is not an easy role to fill though. We must put others first and follow what God tells us to. I admit when people tell me what I should do, I know I should do it but I feel not encouraged to do it once someone has told me. I don’t know why but it is hard. To humble yourself to become servants of the Lord is incredible hard. But we must do this to become the light of the earth. The scripture says we should show men and let everyone know of what we done. But we must not take the glory for ourselves. The Bible also says not to pray in front of a big crowd as a boast but to pray when no one is around. This doesn’t mean pray in a dark room but it wants us not to boast of US being under God but for Him to get the glory by our actions. And if we are praying to boast we should hide our prayer. The whole idea is to humble yourself and give God the glory. I agree we should be the light of the world but God doesn’t look for people who do it to boast of themselves and the community and world wouldn’t accept it if they thought of themselves as the one who did the good deed. It would be better for everyone, the world the community, to see that you are the light of the world and praise God because you are representing Him
To get to the point as in how does trig expressions relate to this, trig identities and expressions motivate us to change culture by the standards that I mentioned. Trig identities are true hard facts discovered but they can be changed they are flexible. What do we pursue? For Christians it is more easier to explain this question. We want to please God and simple follow the salt and light passage in the Bible. We don’t need to consider trig identities but if we were to we would want to please God and we can do it in many different ways but they are all from the same principle, to please God. But we can do that in many ways but it is still the same thing, just like trig identities. But for non Christians how can math motivate us to transform our culture by doing acts of kindness? It could combine good deeds and the person to make that person benefit the community, like adding a good deed to a person to get something good. The person doesn’t need to know trig identities to understand this but this is general information. Someone doing something helps the whole community. In a way math is helping represent this and make sense of doing a good deed. It helps people understand how a simple good deed can help others in a group. If people especially non Christians can have some hard evidence like math or science to explain how a good deed can spread and make things better, they could be motivated to help out, rather than being alone in the dark. It is a way to help people see what is so simple; that doing a good deed can help the whole community.

  6. In trigonometric equations, it contain both sine and cosine. The sine and cosine work with X. it helps us transform the culture into salt and light through how they are similar. Sine and Cosine are both like Salt and Light. The children of the earth are the salt and can be changed just like salt and light. we can all learn through the bible and transform just as cosine and sine can be transformed. the sine and cosine change on how they work together, just light the salt of the earth. we learn from God and spread just like salt and light. God is like x, he helps us work together and match to spread over the world. Thats how the expressions are like transformation in salt and light.

Essential questions are due within 1 week of taking the chapter test. They should be at a minimum of a 10 sentence, 1 paragraph response, but may be longer. Each chapter’s essential questions will assemble your “Electronic EQ” project for each semester and will be worth a project grade at the end of the semester. Each chapter will count toward 16 points of the final 100-point project grade. Responses will receive 16 points for excellent work, 10 points for good work, 5 points for mediocre work, and 0 points for no response. Completing all five EQs on time during the semester will earn you an automatic 20 points towards your electronic EQ. Questions? Ask Mr. VanSlooten.
